Mr. Smith pulled back on the throttle, and the chopper shot up and to the right, “So much for the element of surprise. Seems our little recon mission is a bust. They knew we were coming. Arm the 40 cals I am going in.”

Hi everyone! Today we begin Book 5! Stay tuned for more action!

“Starboard! Incoming!” Simon yelled through the radio.

Mr. Smith lurched the chopper downward and to the left narrowly missing the RPG. “What the…Simon who is shooting at us?”

“It’s coming from the other side of the bay, another inbound, port side!” Simon shouted.

Mr. Smith pulled back on the throttle, and the chopper shot up and to the right, “So much for the element of surprise. Seems our little recon mission is a bust. They knew we were coming. Arm the 40 cals I am going in.”

“You are what!” Simon yelled frantically in Mr. Smith’s ears, “Are you freaking nuts, no disrespect sir, but seriously, have you lost your mind?”

Mr. Smith ignored the question and turned the chopper directly into the path of yet another RPG and leaned on the throttle. He knew where the projectiles were coming from. He took a direct route towards the warehouse. As the shells came Mr. Smith banked left, banked right, skimmed the waters of the bay, darted around ships and sent the chopper skyward, its engines screaming from the strain. Many of the shells tore through the hulls of a derelict ship causing them to list and eventually start their descent to the depths below as he used them for cover. Others crashed into the water inches from taking the chopper down.

Simon pressed a button on the helicopter’s console, and two 40 cal guns emerged from the sides of the aircraft and locked into place. “400 yards until we are in range. I will open fire as soon as we are. Just keep us in the air!”

“Just make sure you get the shot. I got this, reminds me of the old days don’t you think Simon?” a thin smile appeared to curl up the right side of Mr. Smith’s face.

“At least you didn’t say the GOOD old days, then I would know you have gone completely boffo,” Simon responded and trained his eyes on the warehouse.

The conversation ended there. They both knew what had to be done. Both had seen this before, felt the fear and the rush of adrenaline that went with it, many times. They also trusted each other the way that only people that have relied on each other for their very survival could.

Simon gripped the trigger and squeezed hard as another shell flew by his window. The twin 40 caliber guns whirred to life and began to tear into the cement and glass of the warehouse sending shrapnel billowing into the sky.

Mr. Smith had flown the chopper expertly to within ten yards of the warehouse along the water and now began to rise towards the rooftop. As the helicopter rose, the two thick lines of destruction inflicted on the building by Simon rose as well, like a snake slithering up its side. As they crested the roof line, Mr. Smith and Simon saw a flash of scarlet dart behind an old brick chimney. With the chopper, steady Simon unleashed both guns on the old bricks until their ammo ran dry. The bricks gave way, and the old structure began to crumble and sway. The next several events seemed to happen at the same time in a fluid motion as if time paused but only for a fraction of a second.

The chimney fell heavily crashing through the roof of the warehouse. The twin 40 cals clicked, whirred and began to reload. A woman in a scarlet dress stood up from behind a pile of bricks where the old chimney once stood and pointed an RPG at the helicopter which hovered only 10 yards away.

Lady T pulled the trigger as the roof beneath her gave way, and she disappeared into the bowels of the warehouse. The guns sprang to life leveling the remaining roof structure, and Mr. Smith pulled hard left and down on the stick.

As he turned the helicopter around Mr. Smith once again spoke into the radio and Simon released the trigger. “Well, they knew we were coming; now they know we were here. Best we head back to Plum Island and round up the Champions. We are going to have to get boots on the ground and sift through all of that rumble we just created and see what’s left of them.”

“I am hoping not a lot,” Simon replied somberly as the chopper headed back out over Upper New York Bay and headed home.

  1. My wait is finally over. I guess I can say that my weekend is already complete. First there’s weekend Game deals from Lilo and now, there’s Project-X’s Book 5 Premiere. Thank you so much Saljack Enterprises 🙂

  2. If it continues to goes like this. I doubt the heroes will win New York. It sounds like they are outnumbered. I hope they come out with a better strategical plan.

This is action reading. I wonder why Smith thinks a chopper is enough firepower to take the warehouse. He has done enough damage though. Thanks for the update.

I just cannot help but notice that how New York seems to be getting the short end of the stick. Name it Marvel, DC and even here this city is getting wasted ha ha.
