The last weekend before Halloween. That means it’s the weekend for Halloween parties, a corn maze, haunted houses, and/or getting the jack-o-lantern carved. Anyone got big plans? Mine are taking it easy. Yeah, I know, I’m lame but I want to stay in and make rice crispy treat pumpkins and oreo spiders, watch some Harry Potter and play some video games (of course). I want to beat that new run-n-gun game Cuphead.
Well, because this is the last Friday before Halloween, that also means it is the last Friday before November. That means another Free Game Friday blog, ripe with new free games for Xbox Gold! Woohoo! Usually, that also includes a list of all the PlayStation Plus games that are free for the month too. Except, PlayStation has yet to announce their new games on sale–gah! Those jerks. It seems it’s because of their big Halloween sale that will go on until November 1st. I’ll make sure to go over that this blog.
First up is Xbox, and don’t forget it is not too late to check out October’s free games!
TrackMania Turbo – November 1 to the 30th (Xbox One)

First up on the list is TrackMania Turbo. This fast-paced game is indeed a racer, but maybe more importantly, it’s an arcade-style racer. This game offers 200 maps and is all about striving towards your absolute best time. It does offer multiplayer options in the form of split screen or online.
This game came out March of 2016 and despite its mixed reviews on Steam, has some pretty good reviews elsewhere. Metacritic gives this Xbox One version a 76/100 and IGN gives it an 8.4/10 (which is a rating for both the Xbox One and PS4 versions). Looks like this may be a very thrilling, fun game at just the right price.
Tales of the Borderlands – November 16th to December 15th (Xbox One)
IMAGE FROM STEAM
This free game won’t be available until mid-month but will be available until mid-December. December!! Can’t believe I’m already talking about December.
Now, Tales From The Borderlands is not really part of the main Borderland series but is considered to be based on it. It is a graphic adventure game that came out November of 2014. This is made by the same people who brought us The Walking Dead: A Telltale Game Series.
The reviews are stellar for this game: 10/10 on Steam and 9/10 on GameSpot.
The Turing Test – Now till November 15th

Okay, you guys I went over this game in last month’s version of this blog but let me send you on a quick refresher course. This is a puzzle game about an astronaut who has been awoken from deep sleep to help you fellow crew on the surface of a new planet. Throughout the game, you are with T.O.M (the Technical Operations Me.chine). Be prepared for some plot twists!
This game has terrific reviews with a 9/10 on Steam, 7/10 on IGN, and 80% on Metacritic for the Xbox One version.
Night Into Dreams (Xbox 360)
IMAGE FROM STEAM
Nights Into Dreams is a Sega game that released back in 1996! It is an action game all about two teenagers who have entered a dream world, and their helper Nights. The game mostly involves flying through the dreams of the teenagers as Nights in order to collect enough energy to defeat the big bad guy.
IGN gave this an 8.7/10 and Steam a 9/10. If you don’t mind something a little retro this game would be a great choice given the high ratings!
Deadfall Adventures (Xbox 360)
IMAGE FROM STEAM
This action-adventure game came out for Xbox 360 in November 2013. It is a first-person shooter as well. This game is all about living out your Indiana Jones fantasies. You are an adventurer exploring and searching for treasure. There is some damsel in distress and some weird otherworldly happenings.
Okay, so the reviews for this game are not so great! It has a 7/10 on Steam (which isn’t so bad), a 43% on Metacritic, and 4/10 on IGN. Ouch! Apparently, it’s predictable and uninteresting. Still, it’s a free game so it might be worth a shot.
Here is the list of October free games to check out before the end of the month. Now, like I mentioned above, there has yet to be an announcement about the free games for November. However, they are running a huge Halloween sale right now that will last until November 1st. The time is now to cash in on these deal!
I mentioned the sale a little in a previous post about horror games last week. Well, those sales still stand strong, but there are more. This Halloween sale does include a lot of popular horror games, but not just that.
This sale is called “Sale of the Dead” and is in its second week. From what I can see there are over 250 games on sale! Which includes popular and new games, such as The Evil Within 2, Resident Evil 7, The Witcher 3, and much more. There are games for PS4, PS3, and PS Vita.

TrackMania Turbo is a fun, enjoyable racing game. I definitely enjoy playing this one and i’m glad that others can try it for free.
