Rin's Room #17: Assassin's Creed Trailer. Presented by Saljack Enterprises. Gaming. Animation. Media. Entertainment. Woman Owned.

Today I’m sharing the newest trailer for the latest installment in Assassin’s Creed. It’s unlikely that you haven’t played even one Assassin’s Creed game, but here’s a refresher: it’s an action-adventure developed by Ubisoft. It’s going to be released worldwide on October 27, 2017, and you’ll be able to play it on Windows, Xbox One, and PS4.

For those of you unfamiliar with the Assassin’s Creeds game, it focuses on the struggle between the Assassins, who, despite their aggressive title, fight for peace and believe that free will is the answer. Their enemies are the Templars, who believe that peace is best obtained through strict control. If you’re a history geek, this would be an excellent game franchise for you, because it features historical fiction and real-world events and figures with a twist. It was inspired by the novel Alamut by a Slovenian writer, and also took some concepts from Prince of Persia.

The entire franchise is one of the highest selling video game franchises of all time and was first released in 2007, which makes Origin’s the tenth game of the series. It’s nice that it’s being released in the tenth year of the franchise. Hopefully, it’s good luck! The series is so massive that it’s been turned into a film, comic books, and even novels.

I’ll catch you up on the lore. The Knights Templar create a device called “Animus,” which lets people relive the experiences of their genetic ancestors. Sounds cool, right? The Assassins and the Knights Templar are two groups, both related to an ancient species that was destroyed because of a fierce solar storm.

The games start in a fictional 2012 focusing on a huge conglomerate, Abstergo Industries. This company uses its resources to harness the Animus which makes you powerful and kind of crazy. You’ll receive your ancestor’s skills and abilities, but you can also go insane. Basically, the story (which is way too long for me to explain here) is about the Knights Templar trying to abduct people who have connections to Pieces of Eden, which can control free will. They want to collect them all and destroy the free will to make humanity unified. And our job as assassins is to stop the Knights Templar.

Origins is set in Ancient Egypt, during the Ptolemaic period. You’ll be playing as a Medjay named Bayek who’s trying to protect the people. Apparently, you’ll also learn a little bit more about the origin story of the fight between the Templars and Assassins, which sounds impressive to me. It’s probably why the game is called “Origins,” now that I think about it.

Anyways, let’s talk about the trailer! That trailer is awesome! I don’t know whose voice that is but it is seriously giving me James Spader vibes, which I love because I love James Spader and think he’s so cool. Sorry, haha. I was really excited when Ultron came out since Ultron = James Spader and James Spader = yay. It’s actually not James Spader, though, it’s Leonard Cohen. LET’S STOP THE TANGENT.

Here is the Cinematic Trailer which was released at the Gamescom 2017:

I’m liking the rapping, even though it’s Egypt and I don’t know if they even had rappers in Ancient Egypt. The animation for this game is outstanding too, though I still like Wolfenstein more. The people look so so real? The music and basically everything about it is just fantastic, I’m sure that a lot of people who haven’t played the games before will be drawn in by watching the trailer.

Be warned: it’s pretty gory and rated 18 and up. The music is pretty awesome too! Bayek looks super cool and super strong and I’m sure all the Egyptologists will have fun playing this game. It looks like they’ve really done their research when designing it! Here’s what it says on their official website:

Experience the Mysteries of Ancient Egypt – Uncover lost tombs, explore the Great Pyramids, and discover the secrets of mummies, the gods, and the last pharaohs.

An Origin Story – Start here, at the very beginning, with the never-before-told origin story of Assassin’s Creed. You are Bayek, protector of Egypt, whose personal story will lead to the creation of the Assassin’s Brotherhood.

Embrace Action-RPG – Experience a completely new way to fight as you loot and use a variety of weapons with different characteristics and rarities. Enjoy deep RPG progression mechanics, choose your preferred abilities, and challenge your skills against unique and powerful bosses.

Each Quest is a Memorable Adventure – Pick and tackle quests at your own pace: each of them tells an intense and emotional story full of colorful characters and meaningful objectives.

Explore a Full Country – From deserts to lush oases, from the Mediterranean Sea to the tombs of Giza, fight your way against dangerous factions and wild beasts as you explore this gigantic and unpredictable land.

I have played the first Assassin Creed and it was really a masterpiece. Too bad my laptop can’t support Origin, or I would have bought it in an instant. Great trailer, great article!

  4. The Assasins Creed Movie Adaptation was decent but I think they should just stick to the game. It is much better.

  5. I wasn’t impressed when the trailer started and I found the music background weird. It was cool though but it just wasn’t your usually sound fit.

The ending came with the snake and the guy they were supposed to kill gone. The eagle getting the snake just did it for me. Wish the trailer didn’t have to end. I’m on it now!

As long as there is some challenge in it, I would go for the villians and fight the invaders. Good story to play

  10. The trailer is amazing. I don’t prefer games that imply history such as the Assassin’s Creed but I still recommend this to others especially the gamers.
