It’s Friday! Got any gaming plans? I have a date with a plate of nachos that have so many jalapenos I can barely lift the chips. Then, I’m going to wash it all down with a Rockstar and greet the sunrise gaming. Woohoo!
Now, I thought “Friday….what a great day to share free games“. Mostly because it sounds good: Free Friday. Lilo’s Lair Free Game Fridays. Yup, I like that sound of that. Hopefully, you do too because this is going to be a habit.
Being as this is the very first Friday of a new month, it’s a very good time for me to compile a list for you. See, every month both Xbox live and PlayStation Plus offers new free games. Welcome to August!
There are four games, all of which are available on Xbox One, but only two of those are available for Xbox 360 as well. Without further ado…
Slime Rancher (Xbox One)
Genre: Life simulation
This is a first-person open world game about Beatrix LeBeau, a rancher who has moved a thousand light years from planet Earth to live her dreams of being a slime rancher. You will construct your ranch and collect, raise, feed, and breed your slimes. Yeehaw!
Trials Fusion (Xbox One)
An arcade takes on real life sport. You can take on an unlimited choice of platform racing challenges. There are obstacles, ramps, and world wide track records you can try to beat.
Bayonetta (Xbox One and 360
Genre: Action, Hack, and slash
A single player, third-person with a combat system similar to Devil May Cry. You’ll play as Bayonetta, an Umbra Witch who’s just woken from a 500-year slumber. She fights the angels of Paradiso to uncover the mystery of her past that she has forgotten after her super long cat nap.
Red Faction: Armageddon (Xbox One and 360)
This is a third-person shooter where you play Darius Mason. This game takes place 50 years after Red Faction: Guerrilla. You’ll spend most the game in underground tunnels of colonized Mars with some weird Alien creatures that look better dead. Darius may or may not have released them from their vault, whoops.
There are six total games for three different gaming devices–PS4, PS3, and PS Vita.
Just Cause 3 (PS4)
Third-person, open world game set in the fictional Mediterranean island, Medici. You’ll play as Rico Rodriguez, a man looking to destroy General Di Ravello–the power hungry dictator of Medici. Your mission is utter havoc. Hope you like making explosions.
Assassin’s Creed: Freedom Cry (PS4)
Genre: Action- Adventure
A single player, third-person, open world historical action-adventure and stealth game. Templar, pirates, conspiracies, slave trade–get ready to be in the thick of it. This is the sixth major installment in the Assassin’s Creed franchise.
Super Motherload (PS3)
A 1-4 player couch co-op adventure game about digging. You’re on Mars in an alternative Cold-War era, working for Solarus Corporation–a mining company that needs the sweet goods at the center of the red planet. You’ll man a digging machine barreling into Mars for its precious resources and discovering some questionable things going on while doing it.
This is the 3D remake of the 70’s game Snake. Snakeball in the game is a fun, futurist sport that appears to take place at a disco. The goal is to collect balls and score goals. You ride a hoversnake around, while other players try to mess you up. Those jerks.
Downwell (PS Vita)
Genre: Vertically scrolling shooter
Strap on your gun boots and jump down the park well–there’s exploring to do. Make sure to shoot the monsters and collect treasure while you do it!
Level 22: Gary’s Misadventure (PS Vita)
You are Gary, the office worker who’s been late to work too many times–one more and you’re fired! But uh-oh, looks like you slept in late after a night of heavy drinking around town. Time to claw your way up the 22 floors to your desk without Mr. Boss seeing you.
I won’t leave PC gamers hanging. I’ve included five PC games which are some of the best free games out there.
Genre: MOBA (multiplayer online battle arena)
Two teams of five battle it out to destroy the other teams base before they destroy yours. You pick your character from a list of hundreds of available options and work with your teammates while hundreds of creatures continually spawn from the opposing teams base. It’s not an easy feat.
Genre: MMORPG, Space simulation
This mass multiplayer world is controlled by the players. You can do pretty much anything you want in this game, it’s unlimited. Live the space cowboy lifestyle of your dreams. Anyone else thinking about the show Firefly?
Team Fortress 2
This is a first-person multiplayer shooter published by Valve. For this shooter, you join up one of two teams battling it out. There are several different types of battle types including capture the flag and king of the hill. You have nine character class options to choose from.
ArcheAge is a sandbox MMO, and there are plenty of options for gameplay. Take over land and build castles, have epic siege battle, be a craftsman and a trader, rule a nation, or be a pirate even.
This MMO is a little different than most. Its a nice blend of science fiction and fantasy and there is no leveling up or strict classes. You play as an immortal protecting the world from jerk gods. Now, how do you progress without leveling up? Well, you build prestige. This opens up new things for your character. Get enough prestige, and you’ll become a god with a horde of followers.
I hope you enjoyed my list. Have a great weekend! I’ll see you guys again Monday, for my Mobile Monday blog. I’ve got a great new phone game to share with you guys!
