Howdy Gamer Friends!

If you can believe it… It has been over four years since the last Splinter Cell release. I don’t know about you guys, but for me, Splinter Cell is one of the games that I consider a classic. I remember the firs time I played it, I was like… WOW!! I’m in love with this game! I don’t know maybe its because it makes you feel like some super American Navy Seal hero but, I just love every aspect of the storylines, which are always amazing to the gameplay. I love staying in the shadows and taking out the bad guys without them ever seeing me coming. I mean, not every mission can be played this way but, every mission requires a skill level that cannot be found in every game. You guys know me. I love a good challenge, and Splinter Cell is never “easy” to zip right through. It makes you actually work to achieve your goal.

So, when I heard they might be working on a new one… I was thrilled, to say the least! Finally! I mean…I wasn’t sure if we’d ever get another addition to the game… therefore this is super exciting news!!

E3 2017 came and went, and we heard nothing that would give us hope as to the future of Splinter Cell… Simply put, nothing at all was said about it until… Ubisoft’s CEO, Yves Guillemot made a comment that provided us with the news that gave us a twinkling of hope.

The comment came to us via Reddit, during an AMA. A member of the audience asked a question referring to Splinter Cell, and Guillemot responded by saying, “Splinter Cell is a brand we talk about a lot. It’s also personally one of my favorites series. We don’t have anything specific to share at this moment, but teams are working on different things, so stayed tuned in for more.”

A follow-up question was made referring to an interview from the Ubisoft blog. He then went on to say, “We are receiving lots of sketches and proposals around the brand and were going to pick one up. I think you will be able to see something soon but, you will have to wait for that.” So, friends… we must remain patient but, at least we know something is in the works. At least that’s more than we’ve known for quite a while now.

While sharing this information, Guillemot had a huge smile on his face, as if he was holding back and couldn’t wait to say more. I guess this means, he has huge plans for the future of Splinter Cell but knows not to give away to much. It may be too early to create a buzz just yet, Ubisoft knows how much we love the brand and if there aren’t too many details just yet… I understand him wanting to peak our interests, just to keep us interested without being forced to give out too many details… considering he may not have enough to talk about just yet. Still good news though… right!?

According to his comments, I would say this new addition to Splinter Cell is still at least a couple years out. Sad I know, but true. Maybe if we band together and show our love for the game, they will push the project release date up and get to work asap. We can all hope. It’s a huge franchise, and they know there is money to be made… We just have to make sure they know the interest is and always will be there.

Then again, considering his smirk while speaking, maybe… Just maybe… He is saying this to throw us off course. It could very well be that he has more under his sleeve than he is letting on. Maybe he was just testing the waters to see if the brand still has what it takes… and I believe it certainly does. What are your thoughts? Are you a devoted Splinter Cell like me? Is this news something that makes your day? It has made mine, that’s for sure. I will be so glad to have this game back and updated. I mean, to me Splinter Cell has always been a game ahead of its time, and I am anxious to see where it takes us next!!

Thanks so much for stopping by Ky’s Korner today!! Let’s chat tomorrow again friends!

Always good to get decked out in your black ops outfit and shoot off some bad guys. I feel like there’s a lot of room in these games to expand on the storyline and upgrade the gameplay settings.

  3. Is that a Black Op outfit look like? ha ha. Count me it looks like I hit the gym on this one.

Oh, future of Splinter Cell. How I wonder how else will the game developers innovate your stealth mechanics and revitalize the whole franchise overall. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a great franchise, but there’s so many good ones out there that it’s getting harder to come up with anything new, specially when it comes to a stealth-based series.

I’ve heard Splinter Cell game before, I guess the classic one but I never had the chance to play it., maybe this time I will, due to the fact that it’s an action game and I love such kind of game.

  6. I never knew of this game until today, I better backtrack to the classic version first before playing this one.

To be honest, I don’t know what is behind every gaming activities online and you are the only telling me all the behind the scene. I appreciate that. Splinter cell is something I love to try. It is like getting inside the body of Angelina Jolie in the movie Salt and start killing all the bad guys.

I hope the developers won’t make this game another generic shoot-em-up type. Splinter Cell’s stealth-based formula is already an aging formula so it’s hard to tell where it will go from here.

  11. Then the question becomes how far can a shooting game really go? It is a limited genre to start with.

  12. Splinter Cell Blacklist was the best couch co-op game me and my sister played in years! I can’t wait to see what Ubisoft comes up with next! I just hope it still has the couch co-op, since couch co-op has been dwindling these past couple of years.
