Ky's Korner #64: Dragon Quest Heroes 2. Presented by Saljack Enterprises. Gaming. Animation. Media. Entertainment. Woman Owned.

Hey, Gamer Friends!!!

Today, I wanted to write about a game that maybe, is a bit different than games I have written about in the past… But… I love all types of games for sure… I mean.. It is true, I  do like my scary games but… Actually, I love them all. If the game is exciting and can keep my attention… If the graphics are great and I can get into the character then… I’m a happy girl!!

For instance, the game I am talking about today is Dragon Quest Heroes 2. I love it mainly because it’s a hack and slasher game… I can’t help it. Not sure why I love these types of games so much, but the fact is.. I do! Now… let’s give credit where credit is due… It is developed by Omega Force and published by Square Enix for the following platforms… PlayStation 3 & 4, PlayStation Vita, Microsoft Windows and Nintendo Switch. What about my beloved Xbox??? If only!! You lucky PlayStation owners!! Here’s the part where I beg PlayStation to send me a system so that I can play on both platforms… I know, I know… A girl can dream.

Okay, enough with the begging… Back to business.. lol. DQH 2 was released back in May of 2016 and hit worldwide in April of 2017. It is a continuation of Dragon Quest Heroes: The World Tree’s Woe & The Blight Below.

Now, I know I mentioned this was a hack and slasher… and it is, but it’s also a combat game. I love that its a mix of the two… makes me love this game even more! It is the typical RPG, with a cluster of characters, all with different styles. You have the ability to explore the world, various towns, and journey across your map to initiate dungeon style battles and monster encounters. Weather can have different effects as on certain locations… Such as the rainy day curse. Don’t forget to look for treasure boxes and functional ingredients while venturing across your map.

You must play the main story to open certain areas, as you play the main story you will accumulate invitation stones for the world map. These stones allow you to warp from one part of the map to another. Battles stages are essential for story and gameplay progression. Parties can still be changes by chatting with Patty at her bar. And a co-op addition has been added as well.

During multiplayer missions, you can play with up to four players at a time. Unfortunately, online chatting is not available, but instead, you are equipped with different phrases to choose from. If you or a member of your party happens to fail, you may be either resurrect by using the “Leaves of the World Tree,” or they can watch and help their remaining team member by either raising their health to assist them in battle longer or only keep the moral up by cheering them on.

Players can team up to complete the Time Labyrinth, a series set out to please long time Dragon Quest players.  To do so, you must find the scattered pieces throughout the main story. Together you can find these pieces and beat major bosses.

Now.. about the story… It takes place in a world of piece spread out over four kingdoms. As in another story much like it… These kingdoms begin feuding and an all out war breaks out. Heroes must come together to bring order back to their kingdom once again.

Alright... Now, who’s ready to see this game in action? Let’s start with its trailer, shall we?

Oh, my goodness, this game is too cute! I love the anime feel it has to it. Great artwork and creativity, no doubt! Now, let’s meet our heroes!

Yes, it is worthy of a video review. When I check out the trailer, I realized this is the kind of game I want to play too. It is full of adventure. It makes me feel young. It makes me feel happy. I love it to the little bits of my heart.

A mix of Final Fantasy and the old Dragon Quest’s animated series. Not really my type of game, but thanks for the review.

By all means, make a review! I’ve been hearing about this game, though I’m quite interested, I’m also hesitant in picking it up since the usual game formula might get old after a while if it’s not that deep so I’m caught between buying it and getting disappointing given if its gameplay is shallow or giving it a pass overall.

  12. Wow Terrence that comment is deep!!! I agree it looks like your standard RPG game with the usual RPG stuff. Never the less I will try it out.

This is a good game actually, but maybe that’s because I’m a fan of Akira Toriyama’s art style in Dragon Quest, who wouldn’t want that Dragon Ball-esque flare right? By the way, I think the PS4 just got a price drop, you should definitely check out your local tech dealer.

  15. Whoa you got me thinking there buddy. DQ’s author is Togashi or is it Toriyama? Anyway, the title is nostalgic perhaps because I have watch Dragon Quest as a kid.
