Ever since I first heard about this game, I was completely intrigued! Unfortunately for me, it’s only out on PS4 right now, and I no longer have one of those. NOOOOOO!!!! I’m begging Guerilla Games to please, sometime soon; please make it compatible with Xbox One…. PLEASE!! These are the moments I totally wish all games were compatible with all systems. You guys know what I mean…
Horizon: Zero Dawn is an open-world, role-playing action game… and as I mentioned before, it was developed by Guerilla Games and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment for the PS4…and it was released February, 28th 2017… I’ve been hoping to hear it finally came out on Xbox ever since but, no such luck…
Our scene in this game is set in a post-apocalyptic world run by a slew of robotic dinosaurs, about 1,000 years into our future. The first time I saw it’s trailer I thought… WOW!!.. These graphics are out of this world! That much was apparent right off the bat! At that point, I just wanted to play it so I could see all the beautiful artwork. It truly is just so peaceful and amazing!
This game follows our lead character, Aloy, she has an excellent mix of curiosity and strong survival instincts along with a passion for learning more. That’s a recipe for the perfect character if you ask me. Her inner need to keep evolving is what keeps Aloy going throughout the game and were right there with her.
She is fascinated with the robotic dinosaurs that roam the landscape’s of her home and even more fascinated with finding out where they came from…. how they work and who’s behind it all. Her encounters with others in the game are purely personal, much more than just trying to save the day. She is a character made up of deep intellectual thoughts, smarter than she even knows… and as we watch her journey to finding the truth develop, we are able to watch her curiosity turn into brilliance. Most importantly, she acts and reacts like a normal human being… I love this aspect of the game. It allows our relationship with Aloy to feel very real.
These robotic dinosaurs are either composed of electricity or metal. Either way, Aloy is a scavenger.. using the elements around her….these items are vital to Aloy so she must loot their corpses to gather enough resources for crafting. Aloy has a wide variety of techniques for tracking and taking down her enemies. She sets traps with trip wires, and her primary weapon is her bow and arrow… she is also able to craft bombs, and of course, there’s a melee form of defense. Other forms of weaponry can be bought through traders.
Eventually, Aloy is able to hack into a particular group creatures with what is called the Override Tool… turning these creatures into makeshift ways of travel as well as turning them into her companions.
Hiding is easy for Aloy, she is able to hide in the foliage and is very good at sneaking up on her enemy for a swift kill they never even saw coming. So be patient and take your time. We’ve all played enough assassin games to know that for sure.. right!? LOL
During gameplay, you will notice there is an outstanding day-night cycle. Again… allowing us to feel even more connected to the story. Sections of land are portioned off so that you can tell which areas are heavily crawling with the robotic dino’s AND… it tells you the extent of their aggression.. this is good.. there are 26 different robot species and this way we know what were getting into before we even get there. Thanks Guerilla Games!
Aloy’s story starts off as a sad one…. She was abandoned at birth and treated as an outcast. She is not certain as to why exactly and she is determined to find out. Aloy is also on a mission to stop the overrunning of her home by these robotic creatures. It seems no one is doing much about it and she feels as if she is the only one who can stop them, and she’s right.
Here’s the trailer friends. ENJOY! I know you will!
I mean WOW!! Wasn’t that awesome! Here’s a little clip of the actual gameplay. I think it’s important for me to show you how intense and beautiful this game really is even during heavy action… The creators didn’t save those special moments just for the cut scenes… THANK GOODNESS!
Don’t know about you guys but I am IN LOVE with this game! I am so very jealous of you PS4 players right now… not even gonna lie! If you have played this game, please do comment… I’m excited to hear your thoughts!!
