Ky's Korner #20: Project Scorpio. Presented by Saljack Enterprises. Gaming. Media. Entertainment.

Hello My……Super Awesome Friends!

I just came across this information that some of you might already know about but it was news to me so I thought I’d share. I thought… “I can’t be the only one in the world who didn’t already know this…right?” I mean this is pretty big news…. So for who haven’t heard about it…like me… This is for you!

Okay, so… Have you heard of Project Scorpio?? Sounds like some super secret military mission to save humanity… or something like that but, it’s totally not.. It’s the next Xbox creation from Microsoft. Maybe I have been living under a rock… who knows but… this bad boy is sweet! It’s pretty much just everything you could want from a console… put it this way… I’m in love lol… & Microsoft is claiming it to be and I quote…”The World’s Most Powerful Console.” And as Digital Foundry confirmed, it just might be. That’s a pretty huge statement…. I’m pleasantly surprised that they would be that comfortable setting the bar so high for themselves. I like the confidence.

You have a chance to win a Xbox Scorpio, a PS4 Pro or a 2017 Gaming Laptop right here at Saljack Enterprises by entering our Cosplay Competition! For more details click here.

This console promises true 4k resolution gaming, capability with Xbox One and 6 Teraflops of graphical processing power. So this thing is powerful! And it’s graphics will be outstanding with technology like this. This could be a game-changer for the whole industry period.

Eurogamer published a report on Thursday mentioning the release would be sometime around the holiday season. Eurogamer then went on to say they had traveled to Microsoft headquarters in Washington to have a first look at the Scorpio and to speak with its top creators. According to their reports, the Scorpio’s processor will process significantly faster than the Xbox One31% faster to be exact. The memory is said to be much larger than its main opponent, the PS4 Pro.

Here’s a rundown on all the specs:

  • VR Support
  • 4k Gaming Support
  • 1TB HDD
  • 4k UHD Blue-Ray Disc Player
  • 12 GB GDDR5 Memory
  • 1172 MHz GPU- 40 Customized Compute Units
  • 326GB/s Memory Bandwidth
  • 8 Custom CPU Cores clocked at 2.3 GHz

Now…. We all know some of you guys out there are die hard PS4 Pro fans and your probably saying to yourself…

“There’s no way this thing is better than the PlayStation 4 Pro!!” I know how it is to love your console and refuse to believe else is better… trust… been in a conversation or two about just that once or twice in my day… lol. Seriously though.. I get it! The PS4 Pro is a genius console. Then there are the Xbox fans that are all about this… I know I am! Y’all can decide for yourselves…Check out this video comparing the two from one of the lucky ones that went to Microsoft for that sneak peek we talked about earlier…

This console is made up of 4 major components:

#1. The Engine: The Scorpio Engine is to be the most powerful console ever created. With all that power we spoke of earlier, that seems to be very true.

#2. Vapor Chamber: The first of it’s kind, the Scorpio’s vapor chamber uses an advanced liquid cooling system that ensures the console stays cool.

#3. Centrifugal Fan: A supercharged centrifugal fan pulls in the air and compresses it to deliver maximum cooling with very minimal noise.

#4: Hovis Method: In order to maximize performance and minimize the consumption of power the Scorpio uses this Hovis Method. This method is a cutting-edge digital power delivering system that customizes to each consoles voltage.

During Eurogamer’s meeting with Microsoft, they were able to test the Scorpion out. When asked about its gameplay, Eurogamer reported the Scorpion’s performance to be “remarkable.” They were able to test out only one game, it was a demo from the Xbox racing series, Forza Motorsport. “It hit 60 frames per second with a substantial performance overhead- suggesting that Scorpio will hit its native 4k target across a large range of content with power to spare or to spend on other visual improvements.” -Eurogamer Report

The price has yet to be revealed but my best guess would be…. Expensive!! Well, at least at first for sure… we all know the drill.  As for an exact number… your guess is as good as mine at this point, it hasn’t been confirmed just yet. I may be concerned about the price being much higher than the Xbox One but in an interview, the head of Xbox, Phil Spencer doesn’t seem to be at all… “We thought about the price performance and what we wanted to hit with the Scorpio, relative to what we are going to able to do with the “S,” we want to have a good price continuum, so that people wouldn’t look at these two things and feel so disconnected by the price delta.” Meaning… They didn’t want to scare us off just because they varied the Xbox One and the Scorpion’s prices so much. Good thinking guys! Let’s hope they mean it!

Before we wrap this up here’s a little message straight from the creators to you! Letting you know they listened to what we wanted and showing us how they made it happen…

I hope your as excited about this as I am! This console sounds amazing… does it not!? What are your thoughts on this? Drop me a line and let me know!

Thanks so much for stopping by Ky’s Korner… Stop by again soon!

  1. It’s pretty far-fetched to say that it’s gonna be “the world’s most powerful console.” Honestly. I bet Sony has been making their own console for world domination and it will be better than Scorpio, IMO.

You are so right… it could be far fetched and they have a lot to live up to here. We shall see if they can pull it off. It looks promising but your right who knows?? And PlayStation will surely be creating something awesome to counter act the Scorpio.. point is… if this system raises the bar then every system from here on out has to raise the bar too.. who knows where this could take the future of gaming.. only good things can come from this and it’ll be exciting to watch! Thanks for your thoughts on this friend!

Looks like outstanding performance. With a name like Scorpio I’d be surprised if it would let up. With 4K graphic processing it’s gonna make X-Box and PlayStation seem ancient.

  8. Ky this is a great article. It’s very informative but not very long. I’ve read several articles about Project Scorpio but instead of being excited about it, I couldn’t read half of the article because it is boring. Two thumbs up!

Hopefully it is not as problematic as its Switch counterpart. I had to cancel my purchase of that one for now.

Project Scorpio, please, please don’t let me down. It sounds awesome so far, but my highest worry is for its durability. I might lose hope on Xbox if their product crashes again on me within three months.
Please deliver on your promise, Project Scorpio.
