Today we continue the main story-line with the final part of the book one. I hope you enjoy it!
“Just leave me alone! My door is closed! You know the rules!” Briiana yelled through her bedroom door.
“We just want to talk to you dear, you seem upset.” whimpered her mother from the hall.
It was always the same and her parents where so tired. They loved Briiana but they were almost out of ideas as to how to reach her anymore. Briiana was definitely a handful and her parents had almost given up trying to talk to her when she was having a bad day. She would come home slam the door to her room and not come out until morning, it was always the same.
Briiana had a lot of bad days, most of them self inflicted. On the surface she had a very good life which made it hard to understand why she was always getting into trouble. It seemed that even though she wanted for nothing, she was always wanting something. Respect, admiration, attention, new shoes, it didn’t matter all that mattered was that Briiana was unhappy.
After her older adopted brother had gone off to college Briiana poured her time into training and had become somewhat of a local legend. She had competed in and won virtually every under 18 martial arts tournament in the greater New York area. It had been a decent outlet for her pent up aggression leading up to today. But today was a bad day.
Being as she was the kind of girl that always wanted more today she challenged her dojo master to a showdown. He of course politely refused and proceeded to remind Briiana that the Leopard style was about more than individual accolades and trumped up personal pride and that the respect she desired would never manifest itself until she learned and lived the way of the Leopard in ALL of its teachings.
So Briiana flipped him.
It was just another in a long line of stupid teenager moves. She knew it but she just couldn’t help herself. She had to see if she could beat him. If she couldn’t she would listen to ALL of his rhetoric. If she could beat him she would just tell him to stick to the physical side of instruction and leave the other stuff to himself.
As the Dojo master got to his feet he simply pointed to the door. Briiana was an excellent fighter but had a lot of growing up to do. Now she had to do it without her teachers help. She was officially banished and she had no one to blame but herself.
On the way home from the Dojo she hit a pothole which bent the front wheel of her bike. As she tried to fix it she tore her favorite pair of jeans. At least there was ice cream and she headed to her favorite store to load up.
While in the store she got into an argument with the cashier and flipped a harmless woman into a tower of soup cans and got banished from yet another location. Yep, a banner day to be sure.
As Briiana sat on her bed and stared at the wall she remembered the face of the woman named Reisha. Her eyes exuded warmth that had calmed Briiana down, even if it was just a little bit. Quite an accomplishment given the day she had.
“Maybe I will go to the park this weekend” she said to herself “what’s the worst that could happen.”
