BOOK 1, P7: The Ties that Bind - Briiana’s Bravado. Presented by Saljack Enterprises. Gaming. Media & Entertainment.

While in the store she got into an argument with the cashier and flipped a harmless woman into a tower of soup cans and got banished from yet another location.

Today we continue the main story-line with the final part of the book one. I hope you enjoy it!

“Just leave me alone! My door is closed! You know the rules!” Briiana yelled through her bedroom door.

“We just want to talk to you dear, you seem upset.” whimpered her mother from the hall.

It was always the same and her parents where so tired. They loved Briiana but they were almost out of ideas as to how to reach her anymore. Briiana was definitely a handful and her parents had almost given up trying to talk to her when she was having a bad day. She would come home slam the door to her room and not come out until morning, it was always the same.

Briiana had a lot of bad days, most of them self inflicted. On the surface she had a very good life which made it hard to understand why she was always getting into trouble. It seemed that even though she wanted for nothing, she was always wanting something. Respect, admiration, attention, new shoes, it didn’t matter all that mattered was that Briiana was unhappy.

After her older adopted brother had gone off to college Briiana poured her time into training and had become somewhat of a local legend. She had competed in and won virtually every under 18 martial arts tournament in the greater New York area. It had been a decent outlet for her pent up aggression leading up to today. But today was a bad day.

Being as she was the kind of girl that always wanted more today she challenged her dojo master to a showdown. He of course politely refused and proceeded to remind Briiana that the Leopard style was about more than individual accolades and trumped up personal pride and that the respect she desired would never manifest itself until she learned and lived the way of the Leopard in ALL of its teachings.

So Briiana flipped him.

It was just another in a long line of stupid teenager moves. She knew it but she just couldn’t help herself. She had to see if she could beat him. If she couldn’t she would listen to ALL of his rhetoric. If she could beat him she would just tell him to stick to the physical side of instruction and leave the other stuff to himself.

As the Dojo master got to his feet he simply pointed to the door. Briiana was an excellent fighter but had a lot of growing up to do. Now she had to do it without her teachers help. She was officially banished and she had no one to blame but herself.

On the way home from the Dojo she hit a pothole which bent the front wheel of her bike. As she tried to fix it she tore her favorite pair of jeans. At least there was ice cream and she headed to her favorite store to load up.

While in the store she got into an argument with the cashier and flipped a harmless woman into a tower of soup cans and got banished from yet another location. Yep, a banner day to be sure.

As Briiana sat on her bed and stared at the wall she remembered the face of the woman named Reisha. Her eyes exuded warmth that had calmed Briiana down, even if it was just a little bit. Quite an accomplishment given the day she had.

“Maybe I will go to the park this weekend” she said to herself “what’s the worst that could happen.”

(To be continued in book 2…)

  1. Kurara says:

I read Reisha’s backstory…so this explains Briiana’s rage huh. I’m quite excited how these two women will connect as they’re polar opposites, like yin and yang. On to the next chapter!

  2. Lilibet says:

Did Briiana conjure some inner energy power or something? Judging from her arm position, it looked like she blasted a sort of energy to that lady. As for the backstory, she’s a bit immature, full of anger and raging hormones.

  3. Rachel Cambre says:

I like the storyline, however I think speaking from Briiannes POV would help me connect more to the character. Otherwise it’s really good..

  4. Maury Cheskes says:

Briiana sounds like she could benefit from some meditation along with martial arts to channel that aggression. I was surprised the dojo master restrained himself and just pointed at the door. You gotta believe he meditates or is into yoga.

  5. Weng Dale says:

Briiana looked like someone who is tough and very empowered woman. I enjoyed the story so much as well as the graphic of the stories. It’s not common for a strong woman’s story to be conveyed. Good job.

  6. Nathan says:

Can’t wait for the next chapter which is Project-X. Briiana just toss that lady in the cans of soup. I wonder what will happen on the next book?

  7. Peter says:

Oh it’s the end of book one, wonder what will happen on the park? I wonder what will be the story of Project-X as well?

  8. onejanedoe says:

“Briiana’s arms look weird. Please fix it. Nice backstory!” Quote taken from earlier comment.
Though I don’t think that Brianna’s arms look weird, necessarily, the entire picture itself seems hastily put together. It lacks detail and dimension. I am assuming that that is because at this point, the picture, is secondary to the story being told in print. Still it could be vastly improved upon in order to add depth to the character’s that are forming in our minds. This picture, combined with the story itself, are making Briiana seem quite young again, much more mid teens (14-16)that late teens 18-20) which I am guessing she is supposed to be. However the story is giving us the necessary background and lead up so all in all it works well enough to convey it message.

    1. Hi Jane, thank you for the feedback. It is a constant struggle for us to convey Briiana’s correct age. I believe the art team is considering redoing some details on her so the age doesn’t become a question anymore. Will keep everyone updated.

  9. Adam says:

Can’t wait for the book two. I wonder what will happen to the park?

  10. Mau says:

Yay! Finally, Briiana’s story! It looks like she’s only disciplined when it comes to martial arts training but a trouble maker in all other aspects. Looking forward to the continuation of the story.

  11. roisterous says:

Typical teenager: she is convinced that she knows best even though she may not. She just doesn’t seem to be able to listen to any advice given to her. And her martial arts talent just makes her more dangerous in a way. She doesn’t argue verbally, she argues with martial arts moves; I’d hate to disagree with her.

  12. Fiona says:

Somehow this story reminds me of Rogue of X-men. I dunno which X-men movie it was where they had a backstory too. And her arms…it reminded me of what Professor Lockhart did to Harry Potter’s arms when he broke his arm after he fell from his broom at a Quidditch game.

    1. That’s funny 🙂 Thanks for the feedback! We’ll pass this information onto the artists.

  13. Ruperta says:

Briiana’s arms look weird. Please fix it. Nice backstory!

  14. Avery says:

Wow that Briiana is always getting into some kind of trouble. Guess she is just a troubled teen who can’t control her temper. I think she’ll eventually calm down as she gets a little older tho. Let’s hope so!

  15. Frank says:

Yeah…what’s the worst that can happen at the park? We shall she!

  16. jdartlover says:

She reminds me of myself when I was young. Great job on the stories!
