Well almost. The latest mobile craze has taken the world by storm and even infiltrated the Olympic Village wreaking havoc on the planet’s most elite athletes. Even the best of the best are not immune to trying to catch little digital creatures.

Mr. U of Japan went to Rio to defend his title. The all-around men’s gymnastics gold medal winner at the last Olympics and six time world champion is used to defeating his adversaries but this time might have been very different. This time his adversary was his cellular service provider.

Mr. U managed to take enough time off of training to play the latest critter catching mobile game. Seems harmless enough, see the sites, get some exercise and catch a few new pets with special powers, right? That is what Mr. U thought as well. His little hobby managed to land him a 500,000 yen roaming charge! That is the equivalent of 4883.17 US dollars!

Luckily his service provider backed down on the ridiculous fees and in the end Mr. U was able to refocus on the task at hand and not how he was going to pay his cell bill. Had that not been the case would the stress and worry of such an astronomical bill cost him a Gold Medal? It is hard to say but just remember temptation is everywhere so stay alert! Everything in moderation, right?
